Weathering the Storm
By Leslie Ingraham
Recently, I experienced a real, true, thunderstorm! As I hunkered down in my home, nestled on the couch behind the safety of two huge windows. I observed the wind, rain, thunder and lightning raging seemingly out of control just inches away. The flashes of light, booms of thunder and steady pounding of the rain against the windows, reminded me of an all too familiar Bible story. The story comes from Mark 4:35-41 where we see the disciples in a boat, weathering a storm, that I can only imagine, was similar to the one I was watching. The disciples were terrified and panicked beyond belief as chaos ensued around them. That is until they sought the Lord Jesus’s help and found He, and He alone, could calm the storm and restore peace to their situation.
This passage displays a great lesson for us today. Whenever the storms of life arise, there is no need to panic! We must quickly turn to Jesus! He is in our boat, He is with us through every storm, and He is the only one who can bring peace and calm to whatever we face.
